Ute Sherbow, CNM, NP, MSN
Ute Sherbow is a certified nurse midwife and a women’s health nurse practitioner providing care at La Clinica’s Women’s Health Center.
Before joining La Clinica’s staff in January 2009, she was a women’s health nurse practitioner at Planned Parenthood offices in Ashland, Medford, and Grants Pass. She has been on the faculty of the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Nursing, and was a nurse midwife at Kaiser Permanente in Portland.
Ute earned her master’s degree in nursing at the University of Utah with specialties in nurse midwifery and women’s health. Her undergraduate nursing degrees were from then Southern Oregon State College. For her master’s thesis, Ute researched the long-term effects of child abuse on women. She also translated academic research papers from German to English for a professor to present at international conferences.
Ute was born in Esslingen, Germany. In 1975-1976, she was a high school exchange student in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Ute moved to Ashland, where she still lives, to attend nursing school.
She volunteered in Ashland public schools during the years that her son was a student, and acted as a nurse consultant on school trips. Ute has been a guest lecturer for the OHSU School of Nursing and the Southern Oregon University health and physical education programs.
Ute enjoys an active life, which includes running, hiking, and telemark skiing. She also enjoys travel and studying different languages and cultures.
Ute says she is honored to be a part of the La Clinica provider group and has long admired the commitment and caring of those providers as she worked with them in the community. She embraces La Clinica’s mission to provide affordable and excellent health care to all patients.
