Ariela Schnyer is a certified nurse midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. She sees patients at La Clinica’s Women’s Health Center. She came to La Clinica in January 2023.
Ariela has a nursing diploma and master’s degree nurse midwifery and women’s health from University of California, San Francisco. She earned her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavior at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Before coming to La Clinica she was a nurse at Cardea Health in California’s East Bay area, an organization that provided shelter, medical support, and home health nursing services to people who didn’t have stable housing. She also worked as a clinical research coordinator at Oregon Health & Science University’s Women’s Health Research Unit supporting research in contraception, pregnancy, and reproductive health. She has published research about the safety and effectiveness of providing abortion care through video visits and about whether menstrual cups can disrupt the effectiveness of IUDs.
She was drawn to La Clinica’s long history in working for the community and deep commitment to patient-centered, accessible, and equitable health care for all.
“I am deeply passionate about involving my patients as equal partners in their health care,” she said. “My goal in every encounter is to connect people with the information they need to make empowering, informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health.”
Ariela was born in Arizona and has lived in Texas and Portland, Oregon. She lives in Talent now with her partner and two cats. Her hobbies include biking, hiking, skiing, knitting, and keeping the cats from causing mischief.
