Brian Marlia-Larsen is a family nurse practitioner, certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, who sees patients at the Wellness Center. He started working at La Clinica in July 2022.
He has worked in the Rogue Valley as an emergency room nurse and a primary care family nurse practitioner since 2009, also spending years as a medical missionary in Peru.
Born in Portland, Brian spent his childhood in Alaska, then moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 and graduated from Eagle Point High School in 1999.
Brian started his career in health care as a licensed massage therapist in 2002. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish at Southern Oregon University in 2005, then became a nurse in 2009, earning a bachelor’s degree from Oregon Health and Science University. While working in an emergency department, he earned his master’s degree in nursing from Hayden, Kentucky-based Frontier Nursing University in 2013 and became an independent family nurse practitioner. He completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Frontier in 2022.
As a healthcare provider, Brian focuses on listening and building trusting relationships to understand what is most important to each person. This enables him to support their goals for a healthy and thriving life. He is excited to work with people who want to make lifestyle changes to feel their best. Brian is certified as a lifestyle medicine professional by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He also is a member of the Wilderness Medical Society.
He and his wife, Lori Jo, live in Talent with their three children. The family has been involved in mission work in Latin America, the Middle East, and West Africa. Most of their work has been focused in a small community in southern Peru where they have lived and worked for a total of 5 years since 2005. The work led to the opening of a community health clinic in 2022 that offers medical and dental care.
Brian is an outdoor and sports enthusiast who enjoys kayaking, snowboarding, mountain climbing, soccer and basketball. With family he enjoys playing music and being involved with their local and global community of faith.
