Laura Melms is a family nurse practitioner who sees patients at La Clinica Wellness Center. She joined the La Clinica team in 2019.
A native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, she earned a doctoral degree in nursing practice in both the family nurse practitioner and integrative health and healing specialties at the University of Minnesota. Her bachelor’s degree in nursing is from Winona State University, in Winona, Minnesota.
Laura is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and Integrative Medicine for the Underserved, a group that aims to bring this approach to wellness to all. She is working toward a functional medicine certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine. She previously worked as a hospital nurse providing acute care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Laura strives to meet people where they are and learn their story so she can help them identify the lifestyle, environmental, and relational factors that contribute to their well-being.
“I am grateful to be part of an organization that fosters whole-person care for each and every patient,” she said.
Now living in Medford, Laura enjoys learning new recipes, supporting local farmers markets, hiking, backpacking, and going on adventures with her husband, David, and their retired sled dog, Kronkite.
