Nat Fondell is a family physician who sees patients at Birch Grove Health Center. He joined the La Clinica staff in November 2019.
He earned his medical degree at University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, where he focused on family medicine and LGBTQ+ care. He completed his residency in Minneapolis at North Memorial Health Hospital and Broadway Family Medicine Clinic, where he continued to focus on medication-assisted treatment of substance use disorders, palliative care, and transgender hormone therapy. He has published research on transgender hormone therapy.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in history and journalism from North Park University in Chicago, Illinois, and a post-baccalaureate premedical degree from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.
Dr. Fondell is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
“My goal is to make patients feel comfortable no matter what brings them into the clinic or where they are in life right now,” he said. “I joined La Clinica because it was clear to me on my first day visiting that people here take real joy in helping patients in any situation.”
Originally from Nome, Alaska, Dr. Fondell now lives in Ashland with his wife and three children. He enjoys exploring the Rogue Valley and hiking, tidepooling, and camping with his family. His other hobbies include linocut printing and Scandinavian spoon carving.
