Physical health and summer fun
Summer is fully upon us now. Many of us love getting outdoors and being active during the summer. At La Clinica, we are focusing on taking care of our physical well-being, which is about the health of our bodies. It includes moving and having strength and energy for daily tasks. We can support our physical health by getting enough sleep, being physically active, and eating a balanced diet.
What do you like to do to enjoy summer and take care of your physical health at the same time? Here are a few of our favorites.
Visit lakes, rivers, the ocean, mountains, and meadows. Nature is filled with beauty at this time of year and when the temperature isn’t too hot, taking a long walk in nature is a wonderful way to get in shape. When the temperature rises, take a dip in a big body of natural water or visit a local swimming pool.
Visit a growers market and shop for your health. During summer from local farmers, growers, and small business owners bring a bounty of fruit, vegetables, and other healthy food to growers markets. Support your community and the health of your body by buying from growers markets or small businesses.
Plan a gathering and ask everyone to bring healthy, local food. Have a “locavore” meal and ask everyone to bring a dish to share, using as many local ingredients as possible. Share recipes and learn more about what is available in your area from your guests. (Remember to continue to gather safely, including masks and distancing when recommended by your local health officials.)
Get outside and play games. Bocce ball, cornhole, ladder ball, Frisbee, soccer, and basketball are only a few of the options available for outdoor games. Draw a big hopscotch board on your sidewalk with chalk and enjoy playing with your young ones. Go for a bike ride and notice the beauty in your neighborhood or local parks. Summer is a great time to play, make connections with others, and get your body in shape.
提示: If you enjoy camping, plan ahead and book a site early. Ask friends or family members for their favorite campgrounds and explore a new area this year.
