La Clinica got $2 million for the Acute Care Clinic expansion project in the federal budget approved March 23 in Washington, D.C. Oregon’s Democratic senators, Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, helped get the money approved, and Oregon Rep. Cliff Bentz, a Republican, voted for it as well.
The new money will go to remaking the existing acute care building, which will be known as the Acute Care Clinic Annex. It will house a drive-up pharmacy and a processing lab. Right now, it is scheduled to be done in 2025, although questions remain about how much and what work the building will require. The larger new building is set to open June 10.
