What is a certified nurse midwife?
Certified nurse midwives support patients during deliveries at Rogue Regional Medical Center. These are advanced-practice registered nurses who have completed a master’s or higher level nurse-midwifery program. They are licensed by the state and provide care to women of all ages, focusing on family planning, preconception, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, newborn care, and gynecology. They also conduct annual exams, write prescriptions, and handle care during menopause and for reproductive health issues such as irregular periods and infertility consultations.
